First Testimonial (2006)
We had the opportunity of going on a 9-day Safari with Douglas Weru.
From our Nairobi Hotel, we started off towards the Maasai Mara. A five hour drives with grand views over the Rift Valley, to the town of Narok. Here we saw the first Masai Morandsc_1111 and we took a bumpier road (massage road) leading us to the National Park. Before entering the park we took time to visit a Masai village. We finally got to Ilkeliani where we would stay 2 nights. We were really delighted. Douglas had chosen this luxury tented camp and it was a wonderful experience. So was the Maasai Mara. masai-mara-022High grass, typical of the period before the migration, made it somewhat difficult to locate the animals but Douglas appeared to be an expert. We had a wonderful time during the hours of game drive. We continued our trip to Lake Nakuru, where millions of flamingos coloured the lake pink, and we got to meet our first white Rhinos. Then we continued to Samburu National Park, a wonderful place with an abundance of wildlife. Here we got to see the Generuk or Giraffe-gazelle. Apart from the wildlife, Douglas made sure we got to see all the different landscapes, the most beautiful scenery. Reaching Mount Kenya it started to rain, it spoiled some of the pictures but we still enjoyed exploring the rain-forest and watching hyena’s setting-up attack plans near the salt-lick at night. We finally reached Amboseli National Park where we stayed 2 more days in the swamps of amboseli20060615-078Mount Kilimanjaro, or driving through the dried-out lake witnessing a true fata morgana. Then Douglas took us to Nairobi Airport where we promised we’d be back.

dsc_0223We were five Roger, Jacqueline, Jef, Dirk and Ingrid, travelling together. Douglas made it an unforgettable experience for all of us, with an excellent choice of lodges and tented camps. We must say Naivasha Sopa Lodge and Kirawira Tented Camp far exceeded our expectations.
We saw an enormous amount of wildlife and each park offered us a totally different environment. Than we had the comparison between Kenya and Tanzania, we thought Kenya was the more hospitable and warm. But we enjoyed the wildlife in Serengeti and Ngorongoro very much.

dsc_2123We are very grateful to Dowe Safaris and Douglas Weru for giving us this wonderful journey.
